$25,000+ — The Beginning of Something That Lasts

Cha Cha, Cherry Blossoms & Community Impact

At Spencer Smith Park, with cherry blossoms set to bloom in the coming weeks, danceScape marked an important milestone alongside Megan Tregunno, President & CEO of the Burlington Community Foundation.

With a contribution of $20,000, the danceScape Endowment Fund has now grown to over $25,000 in endowed capital — reaching the level where it can begin supporting local registered charities annually.

This moment represents the seed stage of the Endowment — the foundation from which long-term, sustainable community impact can grow.

A Foundation Built on Legacy

The Fund was originally established in 2009 in honour of Robert Tang’s mother, Judy Mun-Pin Tang. Following her passing in 2012, the vision was to create something that could give back to the community in a lasting way.

With the recent passing of Robert’s father in 2025 — a longtime wedding photographer and small business owner in downtown Hamilton — the Fund now enters a new phase of growth, focused on building a long-term legacy that will support the community for generations.

Through the stewardship of the Burlington Community Foundation, the Endowment is designed to grow over time and provide ongoing annual support to charitable organizations aligned with its mission.

🌱 What $25,000+ Means

Reaching this milestone enables:

• Annual granting to local registered charities
• A strong foundation for continued growth toward $100,000 and beyond
• A pathway toward long-term sustainability and multi-generational impact

The first $25,000 is not the finish line — it is the beginning.

💃 A Cha Cha Challenge — A Moment to Be Bold

To mark the occasion, we invited Megan Tregunno, President & CEO of the Burlington Community Foundation, to take part in a lighthearted Cha Cha Dance Challenge.

What began as a simple moment of fun became a reflection of something deeper — the courage to step forward and try something new.

A heartfelt thank you to Megan for being such a great sport — and for embodying the spirit of “Be Bold” with openness, courage, and a willingness to try something new.

It’s a reminder that meaningful moments often begin just outside our comfort zone.

A Cultural Initiative: Be Bold

As the Endowment Fund enters its next phase of growth, danceScape is launching Be Bold — a cultural initiative rooted in a simple idea:

Meaningful moments begin with the courage to step forward.

Whether it’s learning a new dance, sharing a cultural tradition, or contributing to something larger than ourselves, growth often starts just outside our comfort zone.

The Cha Cha Challenge is one small example of this spirit.

Through storytelling, partnerships, and community experiences, Be Bold highlights the human moments where culture, memory, and rhythm bring people together.

🌸 The Sakura Project — Mono no Aware

In many ways, Be Bold is also about recognizing the moments that pass — and choosing to be present within them.

Inspired by the beauty of cherry blossoms, we are introducing the Sakura Project.

Rooted in the Japanese concept of Mono no Aware — the gentle awareness of the beauty of passing things — the project invites us to pause, reflect, and appreciate the moments and people that shape our lives.

The blossoms bloom brilliantly, then fall.

Not as loss — but as a reminder to value each moment, each connection, each life.
